Dhiraj Choudhury (b. 1936) is an idea-oriented artist with a remarkable capacity to immerse his artistic consciousness into suggested themes. His ability to harmonize thought and idiom and integrate them with the theme is total, so that his imagination kindles and glows with the genuine flame of intensity. He has held over 75 solo exhibitions in major cities of India, 12 one-man shows abroad including France, the United Kingdom, the US, Switzerland and Singapore. He was the only Indian participant in the 1976 Geneva Exhibition of Art. His recent works include a series called "Love at the threshold of the new Millennium" which has collections like World without love, Love and Nothing is beautiful than love. His earlier retrospective was entitled 50 years of struggle for freedom. He has innumerable awards to his credit for creative work, including the National award of the Lalit Kala Akademi.
