Pandit D.V. Paluskar (1922-1955) was the son of the legendary Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, who died when young Paluskar was just 10. D.V. Paluskar then got trained from two of his father's disciples, Pandit Vinayakrao Patwardhan and Pandit Narayanrao Vyas but he did not copy their styles, but evolved his own style.

After giving public performances all over north India, in 1901, he founded the Gandharva Mahaavidyaalaya in Lahore, the first music school run by public funds.
